【Mumbai】In yet another attempt to contain inflation within its targeted 5-5.5 per cent range, the Reserve Bank of India on Friday upped the key indicative short-term lending rate (repo rate) by 25 basis points from 7.50 per cent to 7.75 per cent with immediate effect and the Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) by 50 basis points to 6.50 per cent in two phases effective from April 14 and April 28. With an increase in the CRR, an amount of Rs.15,500 crore of resources of banks would be absorbed.
