【New Delhi】The Economic Survey, which was tabled in Parliament ahead of the Union Budget for 2009-10 by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on July 2, suggested aggressive disinvestment, financial sector reforms, an end to all cesses and surcharges on taxes and free pricing of fertiliser and fuel to bring the economy back to high growth track.

【New Delhi】Less than a day after Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee announced to reduce the additional excise duty on big cars with engine capacities of 2,000 cc and above by Rs 5,000 per unit and to decrease the excise duty late on petrol-driven trucks and lorries and chassis of such trucks and lorries to 8 per cent from 20 per cent at present in the Budget for 2009-10, some automobile firms, including Ford India and Honda Siel Cars India agreed to pass on the full benefit to customers.

Passenger cars and two-wheeler sales increased by 7.8% and 17% respectively. However, commercial vehicle sales fell 12.51%.
