【Tokyo】Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned against the forces of “encroachment” in the world and said the global situation looked more like the 18th century.
Addressing a business meeting on the 1st September, suggesting that the world was divided into the forces of “Vistaarvaad” (expansionism) and “vikasvaad” (developmentalism), the Prime Minister referred to encroachment into nations and “entry into seas”. However, the Prime Minister did not make any reference to any specific country or countries indulging in this kind of encroachment. The reference of “entry into seas” in this part of the world could be read as a reference to China, but Mr. Modi himself spoke in general terms.
