◆Truce violations will be part of India-Pak talks
【New Delhi】The Centre has signalled that the recent ceasefire violations will not impede the upcoming dialogue with Pakistan but would become a significant part of negotiations between the two South Asian neighbours.
In a conversation with the media on the 26th July — the 15 anniversary of the Kargil war, which is commemorated as Kargil Vijay Diwas — Defence Minister Arun Jaitley stressed that ceasefire violations “itself is an issue” of the talks. Mr. Jaitley made this observation in response to a question on the impact of the recent spurt in border violations by Islamabad on the upcoming talks between the Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan that commence on August 25, 2014.
In a statement in parliament on July 25, Mr. Jaitley stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stressed the importance of peace and tranquillity along the borders and the need to uphold the sanctity of the Line of Control, during his talks with his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif.

○Army giving befitting reply to Pak ceasefire violations
【NAGROTA】Indian troops on the LoC are giving befitting reply to ceasefire violations from across the border and will continue to do so in the future, a senior Army officer said on the 26th July.
"I can say with a lot of confidence that our troops on the Line of Control (LoC) are giving a befitting reply and will continue to do so. Any nefarious designs of the enemy will be defeated," General Officer Commanding (GoC), 16 Corps, Lt Gen K H Singh told reporters here. According to him, there are "150 to 200 militants" staged in various camps on the other side of the border in a bid to infiltrate into this side. They attempt to enter into Jammu and Kashmir before the onset of winter.

○Situation along China border peaceful, says Army
【Srinagar】In the backdrop of rising incursions by Chinese troops in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, the Army on the 26th July maintained that the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) was absolutely peaceful and calm, and such incidents happen due to differences in perception.
“There are no problems as the situation on the China border is absolutely peaceful and calm. There has been no incident of firing at the LAC,” General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Northern Command, Lieutenant General D S Hooda told reporters in Drass, where the Army is celebrating “Vijay Divas” on the 15th anniversary of the Kargil war.
