【Review】Sanjaya Baru's The Accidental Prime Minister, which has already crossed the 50,000-sales mark, will soon see two regional language translations.
The book hit stores across the country on April 11. It dwells on Baru's tenure as media advisor to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh between 2004 and ’08.
During these four years, he had an opportunity to work closely with the PM and understand his vision on domestic matters and foreign policy. Baru also observed from up close Singh's often troubled relations with his ministers, his cautious equation with Congress President, Sonia Gandhi, how he handled the Left and his triumphant moment with the US nuclear deal. Yet, it was all too clear to Baru that it was Sonia Gandhi who called the shots.
Penguin Books India, which has published the book, has confirmed that it has ‘sold Marathi and Tamil language rights and these two editions should be out soon'. There is no official word on the versions in other language, though Telugu and Hindi are expected to follow in due course of time.
